1. Introduction

  1. Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant 2023 is organized by Fairchild Television Ltd. ("the Organizer"). It is open to female contestants who satisfy the requirements set out below ("the Contestant").
  2. The Organizer may in its absolute discretion produce a television program on the Contest and broadcast the same through television, video, tape, internet, mobile app and any media format.
  3. The Contestant hereby applies to participate in the Contest on the terms and conditions hereinafter appearing.

2. Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the Contest, the Contestant must fulfill each of the following requirements:

  1. The Contestant must be female;
  2. In order to be eligible for “Miss Chinese International Pageant” in Hong Kong, the Contestant must be at least 17 years of age by August 1, 2023 (by Western Reckoning) and has not attained 28 years of age by February 28, 2024 (by Western Reckoning);
  3. The Contestant must be a resident of Canada;
  4. The Contestant must be nominated by a person who fulfills all the requirements set out under paragraph 3;
  5. The Contestant must not be bounded by any contract which will prevent her from entering the contract with the Organizer referred to in paragraph 7 below;
  6. The Contestant must not be an employee of the Organizer Fairchild Television Ltd or Co-organizers Talentvision, Fairchild Radio or Popular Lifestyle & Entertainment Magazine.
  7. The Contestant must be a person who:
    1. has never been through any ceremony either valid or invalid, whether civil, religious, customary or tribal which is recognized as a marriage ceremony in any part of the world;
    2. The Contestant has never been pregnant;
  8. The Contestant agrees to participate in the promotional activities arranged by the Organizer and to obey the reasonable and lawful directions of the Organizer pursuant to such promotional activities. The Organizer retains the right to disqualify any absentees.

3. The Nominator

The Nominator of the Contestant must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. The Nominator must have known the Contestant personally on the day that the Contestant signs the Application Form;
  2. The Nominator must be at least 21 years of age (by Western Reckoning) on the day that the Contestant signs the Application Form;
  3. The Nominator must be resident of Canada;
  4. The Nominator may be required to accompany the Contestant in the first interview of the Contest;
  5. The Nominator may have to appear in person in the television program on the Contest produced by the Organizer when required to do so by the Organizer;
  6. Each Nominator can only nominate one Contestant;
  7. The Nominator must not be an employee of the Organizer Fairchild Television Ltd or Co-organizers Talentvision, Fairchild Radio or Popular Lifestyle & Entertainment Magazine.

4. Entry Procedures

  1. The Contestant must complete and sign the section of the form entitled “Application form”
  2. The Nominator must complete and sign the section of the form entitled “Nomination Form”.
  3. When the Application Form and Nomination Form have been completed and signed in the aforesaid manner, the Contestant must return them to the Organizer together with the following :
    1. photocopy of her Birth Certificate, Passport and Evidence of Residency;
    2. two photographs, one showing her in half length and the other in full length;
    3. Videos of a 30 second self-introduction and 1 minute talent performance.
  4. The Contestant must submit the application online at www.fairchildtv.com by August 30, 2023 at 5pm.
  5. The Contestant must produce the original documents referred to in paragraph 4(C) above for inspection by the Organizer when so requested.

5. Interviews

  1. The Organizer will consider all applications received, and select some Contestants to attend the interview at the time(s), place(s) and format (s) designated by the Organizer.
  2. The Organizer will select some Contestants to participate in the Final of the Contest after the interview(s).

6. Date of Various Interviews

September 2, 2023 (Saturday)

7. The Contest

As a condition precedent to the Contestant participating in the Final of the Contest, the Contestant selected from the interviews must enter into a contract with the Organizer.

8. Acknowledgment

  1. The Contestant hereby acknowledges and agrees that the Organizer may in its absolute discretion:
    1. Request her to produce evidence of her residency.
    2. Accept documents of identity out of Canada other than landed immigrant documents or Canadian Citizenship Card or Passport under paragraph 2(C) or 3(C)
    3. Refuse any application without explanation;
    4. Select any Contestant to enter into the preliminary;
    5. Choose and decide upon the contesting numbers of the contestant
    6. Disqualify any Contestant without explanation;
    7. Amend, suspend or cancel the interview, promotional activities and Contest and to amend these terms and regulations without notice.
  2. The Contestant further agrees:
    1. that the Organizer need not compensate and shall in no way be liable for any monetary or other loss to the Contestant including but not limited to personal and fatal injuries, regardless of whether such loss arise in whole or in part as the result of the negligence or other wrongdoing of the Organizer and the Contestant expressly releases the Organizer (including its respective directors, officers, agents, representatives, successors and assigns) from any and all such liability.
    2. that the property and all copyright in the photographs referred to in paragraph 4(C) shall pass to the Organizer upon submission of the Application Form. She agrees that the Organizer need not return and can retain the documents described in clause 4(C)

9. Confirmation

The Contestant confirms that the information given in this application form is true and correct that the Organizer will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, damaged, misdirected or destroyed application forms or other documents or for any human or technical errors in the processing thereof.

10. Language

This text is written in both English and Chinese. In case of variance or discrepancies between two versions, the English version will be final.

11. Law

The Contest is governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia.

The Organizer shall have the right to collect, use and disclose the Contestant’s personal information for purposes of or related in any way to the promotion and production of the Contest.
